Cookie Policy

Version 1.2 — Effective from 17 October 2026

A cookie is a small text file placed on your computer, tablet or smartphone when you visit a website. It allows the site to recognise your device on future visits and may remember certain preferences.

Cookies may be placed by the site itself ("first-party cookies") or by third parties ("third-party cookies") such as analytics tools or social networks.

Article 1 — Cookies used on the Deep website

1.1 Strictly necessary cookies (exempt from consent)

These cookies are essential for the website to function. They cannot be disabled and do not collect information that could be used to identify you for advertising purposes.

1.2 Performance and analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website in order to improve our content and your experience. These cookies are only set with your consent, given through the banner.

1.3 Cookieless audience measurement

If you decline cookies, or until you have answered the banner, we still measure traffic to the site, without setting or reading any cookie and without storing anything on your device (no local or session storage). The same measurement applies to the redirect page builtbydeep.com/open-app (links and QR codes to the app).

  • Data processed: pages viewed, where the visit comes from (referring site, campaign parameters), browser and device type, approximate location (country, city) and actions on the site (for example a click on a download button).
  • How it works: to count visitors without cookies, PostHog computes a fingerprint on its servers from your IP address, your browser and the site name, combined with a random key that is renewed every day and then deleted. This fingerprint cannot be traced back to your IP address and cannot recognise you from one day to the next. Your IP address is not stored.
  • Purpose: audience measurement of the site only (traffic and usage statistics), never advertising or profiling.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in measuring our site's audience (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Hosting: PostHog, European Union (Germany).
  • Objection: you can object to this measurement by writing to hello@builtbydeep.com, or block it with browser settings or extensions that block audience measurement tools.

1.4 Functionality cookies

These cookies allow the site to remember your choices and preferences to provide a personalised experience.

No third-party functionality cookies are currently active.

1.5 Marketing and advertising cookies

These cookies are used to show you relevant advertisements and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

1.6 Social sharing buttons

If you interact with sharing or "like" buttons on our site, these third parties may place cookies and access data about you. Please consult their respective privacy policies.

Article 2 — How to manage your cookies

2.1 Consent banner

On your first visit, a banner lets you manage your cookie preferences. You can:

  • Accept: accept the analytics and advertising cookies listed above
  • Decline: decline all non-essential cookies

Your choice is stored for 6 months via the deep-cookie-consent cookie.

Declining cookies does not stop the cookieless audience measurement described in article 1.3, which stores nothing on your device.

2.2 Updating your preferences

You can update your preferences at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" in the site footer. The banner then shows again and the analytics and advertising cookies already set are deleted.

2.3 Browser settings

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Cookies

⚠️ Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the site.

2.4 Specific opt-outs

Article 3 — Retention period

Cookies placed on your device are kept for the duration shown in the Article 1 tables, up to a maximum of 13 months in accordance with CNIL recommendations.

Audience measurement data collected by PostHog, with or without cookies, is kept for up to 7 years (the retention period of our PostHog plan). Recordings of browsing sessions are deleted after 30 days.

Article 4 — Mobile application

The Deep mobile application does not use cookies in the strict sense. It may however use similar technologies:

  • Mobile advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android): only with your ATT consent / Google account settings
  • Analytics SDK: PostHog to analyse app usage — aggregated data only
  • Local storage: preferences and cache for app functionality

Article 5 — Contact

  • Email: hello@builtbydeep.com
  • Post: Built To Protect, 1651 Avenue de la Pompignane, 34000 MONTPELLIER, FRANCE

Article 6 — Changes

Deep reserves the right to modify this Cookie Policy at any time to comply with legal developments. Any material changes will be notified to you.
